The wines showed magnificently at the 3D Wines tasting in St. James, London. Once again a full house. Thank you to all 3D Partners who joined us.
After a marvelous opener with our Champagne Brut Origine, rich yet refined, we moved on to a comparison of two superb Chardonnays from Chablis and Pouilly-Fuissé. We sampled a rare white Châteauneuf-du-Pape which was fresh, complex and honeyed. Next we compared two light Pinot Noirs – a Sancerre rouge and Pinot Noir from New Zealand.
Next up, our St-Emilion Grand Cru Clos Villemaurine from the fabled 2009 vintage was superb – lovely fragrance and powerful, mouth-filling fruit. The SuperTuscan blend Riserva di Fizzano from Rocca delle Macie showed really well with smooth, tangy Sangiovese fruit, combined with the perfect partnership of Merlot and Cabernet. Finally, we finished off with an amazingly fragrant and exotic Gewurztraminer from Alsace.
“What a great evening at the London wine tasting! We really enjoyed it – especially the information about the wines from Andrew. (The wines were pretty wonderful, too!)”
