A new experience for Andrew on his recent visit to Montirius in the Rhône Valley.

 

Christine and Eric Saurel got me to taste their special terroir from their famed Vacqueyras ‘Le Clos’ vineyard. Effectively, this amounted to eating small amounts of chalky clay and sandy limestone. The taste stayed with me for quite some time, it has to be said. Point well made though…
