Forget the sterile, polished tours of the famous Grandes Marques. The places to visit in Champagne belong to the small growers who often fashion great champagnes with real character as well as value. In particular, the place to be in November is at 3D Partner’s Cave Ouverte, when the Lenique family from Maison Lenique in Épernay, will once again clear their cellars for this ever-popular event.
This occasion is a great way to meet many 3D winemakers and spend the day tasting a dazzling range of wines. We welcome our vigneron friends from all our regions, Bordeaux, Alsace, Burgundy, Beaujolais, the Loire Valley, the Rhône Valley, Alsace and our newest members of the 3D family from Italy.
From the moment you receive your complimentary taster of champagne Cuvée 3D, the atmosphere in the deep, ancient underground cellars is lively and full of chatter, colour and the enticing smell of French cooking, delicious local produce and, of course, the heady aroma of wine permeating throughout.
Other exhibitors will include makers of foie gras, smoked sausage, terrine, cheese, chocolate, honey and other artisanal exhibitors, making it an enticing opportunity to stock up with numerous French specialities, as well as wine, before Christmas.
The cellars will be open from 11am until 4pm and a simple, tasty French three course lunch will be served.
Tickets cost £45 per person and include your own tasting glass and a hot 3-course lunch. Our next Cave Ouverte will be in 2017
